Digital Literacy and Ethics can save people from crime and danger. This also helps them to be responsible in their digital participation. For students to be safe from unsafe content, cyberbullying, privacy hazards, scams, malware, and more, digital citizenship is a crucial skill.
Copyright and plagiarism issues. Using one's output as a model can be helpful in supporting such information you used in your academic paper or other projects. But, it is also very important to give credit to the person who created the original output otherwise it is counted as plagiarism (stealing someone's idea and making it as your own). The best defense against plagiarism is thorough citation of all sources, whether paraphrased or used exactly, in your writing. Knowing how to address plagiarism will support your compliance to both academic and legal policies. Students who understand copyright can better appreciate the worth of both their and other people's creative works and can make sure they are using them ethically and lawfully.

I like how you used concrete facts to talk about the importance of Digital Literacy and Ethics. I agree with what you shared about the importance of this topic. I also think that this is important for the students to learn so that they will be able to navigate on and use the Internet more safely.
On the other hand, I also agree with you on the fact that having our students learn more about copyright and plagiarism is important. Indeed, as teachers, this is a topic that you want to address because students usually struggle with that -- when writing paper, for example, as you mentioned.
